Hi all,
It's been a shaky start but I think things are finally settling in now. The plane ride was terrible!! I felt like a little paper air plane trying to fly through a hurricane. My butt left the seat on multiple occasions, and the bathroom and I made good friends. Navigating the Houston airport was an experience, apparently terminals are across streets and past bridges! But I made it safely on the little express jet to Arkansas on which my butt left the seat (it didn't on the bigger plane). It was a row of seats on one side of the plane and a row of seats on the other side. Upon arriving, I was picked up with one other girl and we made our way to Turpentine Creek. My dad had said he wanted to know the moment I had my head craning out the window and could hear a tiger roar or grumble, I did text him but I am not sure if he got it. :) It was dark when we got here, so I set up my room and hung out with the other interns. Jamie and I got here last so we got last dibs on beds, so of course I got the top of the rickety bunk bed. But my boxes had not arrived with my bedding so I slept on the couch which was surprisingly comfortable. This morning I got up early and crept around the house to get dressed. I was anxious to explore. I met up with Emily (head honcho) and got a tour. Think I pretty much have a handle on all the names. Tomorrow is training day so because I wasn't trained I couldn't go in the compounds but I scratched several butts through the gates. Anyway, after exploring the grounds and the gift shop, the other interns were up and ready to go to town. So we drove 45 minutes to the little town of Fayetteville, where the stores are little, accents are thick and everyone knows each other. At the moment, everyone is at our house and attempting to chose a movie. Tonight we are due for an ice storm, where power is typically lost for several days so tomorrow should be a challenge. Training starts at 8 and it should be cold so I will let you know how it goes tomorrow!
